While most athletes dedicate their time and money to charities dedicated to children, two-time Olympic gold skier Jeremy Bloom spends his time helping seniors. Bloom founded the Wish of a Lifetime charity organization inspired by his grandmother in 2008.
The purpose of the charity is to give low-income seniors the opportunities to fulfill their dreams or wishes. Seniors who are in financial hardship may have had aspirations to skydive, see a how, see a long-distance relative, and other desires but were unable to do so because of circumstance. Seniors who are interested in the program must satisfy the following guidelines:
- Minimum age of 65
- Legal United States Resident or Citizen
- You are unable to fulfill wish on your own because:
- Income restrictions
- Your monthly expenses are higher than your monthly income
- Your income is below the federal poverty level
- you are a resident of a senior living facility
- Income restrictions
- Has not been convicted of a crime for sexual abuse, financial exploitation, physical/verbal abuse, or a crime against another person, business, or organization.
- Must be physically and psychologically capable of experiencing the wish
Donations and other information can be gathered at Wish of a Lifetime’s website.
