UP such an inspiring movie

A few months ago my husband and I had the pleasure of taking our daughter to see “UP”, the heartwarming story of an elderly man who befriends a little boy scout. I don’t want to ruin any of the plot if you haven’t seen yet. But, this was one of the few movies that Disney along with Pixar produced that had me tear up at many points throughout the movie. It’s crazy how that works because it’s a cartoon! But whoever writes these story lines really knows how to tug at the heart. I watched it again last night, and I couldn’t help but cry again as I thought about my parents, about my life, about my sister and my late brother-in-law. My daughter enjoys all the funny scenes and she doesn’t understand the underlying meaning that only us grown-ups can relate to, but much like I reacted when I saw Bambi for the first time, later on when she’s older she’ll see it in a different light.

Why do I think it’s so inspiring? Because it teaches you that, no matter what happens in life, you should never give up on your dreams.

Review: 39 Dollar Glasses.com

My 39 dollar glasses

My 39 dollar glasses

by Rose Broyles

If there is one thing I can tell you about myself,it’s that I’m ALWAYS looking for a good deal. So when I found this company, I was very shocked at the prices they were selling eyeglasses for. I already shop for my contacts online but normally buy my glasses from Walmart or Costco. Usually, I’m looking to spend around $100-150.00 for a pair.

39 Dollar Glasses

Yes you heard me right, $39.00 glasses. Some are more expensive, but the base price starts at $39.00 for metal and plastic rimmed glasses, lens included.

What is 39 Dollar Glasses?

Who is 39 Dollar Glasses and why are they $39.00? 39 Dollar glasses.com was founded by eye doctors looking to sell glasses inexpensively for the same quality as in retail establishments. Because of the low overhead costs and high volume, they are able to pass the savings on to their customers.

What’s Great About 39 Dollar Glasses?

Large Shopping Selection

You can choose from:

  •  kids
  •  sunglasses
  • semi-rimless

High Quality Materials

Glasses are  made from high quality polycarbonate lenses with 100% UV coating at no extra cost.

How Do You Shop For Glasses?

Shopping at 39 Dollar Glasses is very easy. Once you select  type of glass (plastic, rimless, etc.), you choose a style that you like and then you can select from a variety of options. You get all the details you need such as an explanation of measurements available in a link. Clicking through Smart Fit, you can see what these type of glasses will look like on a man or woman and what type of face shape. You can even print out an actual sized photograph of the glasses.

When you enter information about your prescription information, you’ll then measure the distance between your pupils called the PD. You’ll print the ruler out and measure the distance. This way, your glasses will properly fit your nose and face.

If you have questions, there is a customer service line you can call with any questions regarding the products or how to enter prescription information. I didn’t need to call since I already had an idea of what I was going to order, but they are available for assistance.

Shipping was pretty good. I received my order within 5 business days on standard shipping.

What’s Not So Great About 39 Dollar Glasses?

I Need to Feel It!

The problem with online stores is that if you’re not there physically, it’s very hard to tell if that particular piece of clothing or in this case, glasses are going to look good on you or feel right. Seeing is one thing, feeling is another. The problem here is that you really don’t know what style looks good on you unless you try it out in front of the mirror. That’s why when you walk into a retail store such as Walmart, you have mirrors all around to see what you look like. For this reason, I suggest that if you are just looking for a 2nd pair of glasses or if you are open to a slightly different look on you when you actually get the glasses, then 39 dollar glasses are for you. Of course, you can return it for a refund. But it’s always a hassle to do it that way.

My Final Review

I had a good experience using this website and I’m pretty sure I will be using them again in the future. So far my glasses fit perfectly, they don’t feel cheap or easily breakable. I can see out of them perfectly. I give 39 Dollar Glasses a definite thumbs up.

Hoyer Lift Makes Caregiving Easier

Product Review

SpinLife.com, LLC

The Hoyer Lift

Every now and then, I find products that are a Godsend. If you are a caregiver or if you have a caregiver, you may know that lifting is probably the hardest part of the job. In some ways, we are lucky that Mom is 90 lbs. But sometimes, your loved one may be upwards in weight and lifting them without injuring yourself is next to impossible. The Hoyer Lift helps you with patient transfers and provides safety not only for your loved one but for you too!

We are fortunate enough to rent one from the healthcare company that our parents’ medical group referred us to and that is covered by Secure Horizons. To give you a better idea of how these work, see the videos below. There are many other types of hoyer lifts from electrical to manual, from standing to sitting, that you can choose which fits your loved ones needs.

Types of Hoyer Lifts

Manual

Since ours is rented from the healthcare company, we have a manual. Of course you get a bit of a work out pumping it up but it keeps Mom comfortable (she has arthritis) and it prevents us from pulling anything in our backs. This one looks similar to the one we use, but our sling is a lot bigger. Mom practically lays in it. The one she has also has a hole in the bottom for if we needed to place her over a toilet. Since she wears diapers, we don’t use it for that purpose.

Electric

This is a nice one to have, then you won’t have to pump it up yourself! They are however, twice as much as a manual. But if you’re looking for ultimate convenience, then this is the way to go.

Stand Up

This particular lift is good for patients who can still stand but with in need of assistance.

Heavy Duty

This lift has a capacity of up to 600 lbs.

Paying For It

As I said, we are renting it. But, I think, (I have to check ) that after a set amount of payments, we will end up owning ours. You may want to check yours or your loved one’s insurance to see if these lifts are covered. Sometimes, they are partially covered, and sometimes they are fully covered.

Should I or Shouldn’t I

As with all of our articles, our purpose is to share our experiences with you. This truly has helped us in many ways. Not only has this machine made us more efficient caregivers, it has helped with ours and our mom’s physical safety.  If you need help with lifting, I wholeheartedly encourage you to go out and either rent one or you can buy one from a company like Spin Life who has a large collection of not just Hoyer Lifts, but wheelchairs and other healthcare equipment.
