Dealing with your Emotions and Sadness

Having a sick family member or someone you love can be very devastating. Not only are you confronted of how to deal with the serious issue(s) in front of you, but at the same time, you are faced with how to deal with your own emotions as well.
One way that helps my sister and I deal with this sadness and emotional turmoil is realizing how lucky we are to have each other and to have special supportive friends who we can lean on in these times of trials and tribulations. I believe it is so important to have a support group or to have special friends who you can depend on.

Above all of these, I believe it is so important to have an “outlet” to release this emotional baggage ~ One way to cope, for example, is walking by the ocean, or listening to harmonious music, or doing yoga, or exercising, or doing any form of activities that will relieve your mind and spirit. This is also a good time to reach into your inner strength and your spiritual beliefs in order to deal and cope with your emotional sadness or grief.

I believe that it is important to be aware of your emotional and physical needs~ to realize when it is time to step back and to take care of yourself first and foremost. It is so important to become aware of your own emotional and physical needs before you end up becoming handicapped yourself.

For me, listening to harmonious music while walking by my ocean is a self healing activity. This daily activity gives me the strength to deal with many stressful situations and most significant overcome my sadness. This ability to have a daily ritual of self healing comes first (which I believe strongly) in order that I am able to help others and deal with any problem(s) presented before me.

Any activity that revives your spirit and refreshes your mind is such an important tool in dealing with a sick parent(s) or love ones.

As I realize and become aware of taking care of myself first, I am able to start each day renewed and deal with almost anything in life. I can wake up everyday with the knowledge that I can always come back to my ocean to refuel so I can deal with my daily problems presented before me and try to face the sadness of a sick love ones.

As you practice this kind of ritual and self healing activity, you will find a sense of transformation, hope and renewal. Most important, you will feel a sense of harmony and grace in your life….
