Medical Alert Systems

What is a medical Alert System?

A medical alert system is a device that consists of an emergency button transmitter and a base station that contacts an emergency professional in case of an emergency.  If a user becomes suddenly disabled all they have to do is to press the button on their transmitter and they are connected with a professorial who summons the appropriate help.

What to look for in a Medical Alert System

There are three main factors to consider when looking the appropriate  medical alerts

1) Monthly cost – typically around $30 a month

2) Length of contract – should be month to month

3) range of transmitter  - should reach at least 300 feet or more.

Conclusion

There are many choices and systems to consider when choosing this product.  One way to seek help is to view a product review site which pulls together the many different features of these products.  I personally like the site Medical Alert Reviews as this site reviews  many of the big players in this industry.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Chances are high that for the second year in a row Social Security beneficiaries will see no increase in their benefit checks.

The official word won’t come until mid-October when the Social Security Administration announces whether there will be a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for 2011. But those who’ve crunched the numbers say there just hasn’t been enough inflation to justify a bump in benefits.

he last time there was an inflation adjustment was in 2009: Social Security beneficiaries got a higher-than-normal 5.8% increase because of a temporary spike in energy prices in the third quarter of 2008.

You don’t always have to pay for credit reports! Here are a few that you may have heard of. You may not think it’s that important to check your loved ones credit, but it is, especially if they have considerable assets. You don’t want people taking advantage of Mom and Dad, or find out about credit lines that they opened up without realizing it.

  • Annual Credit Report  – you are only allowed to retrieve your records once a year for free.

  • Eloan –it gives you a good estimate of what your credit score may be. You can also apply for loans here.

  • Credit Karma — You can also access credit karma with Eloan, but this is the original site that also allows you to monitor your credit.

You can also get free reports on a trial basis by going to any of the 3 main reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian and Transunion.
