Diabetes, diabetes mellitus among medical practitioners, is a metabolic disorder afflicting an estimated 23.6 million Americans. That is close to eight percent of the population. This eight percent include the likes of former governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, actresses Halle Berry and Selma Hayek, and CNN&#8217;s Larry King.
