Mobile Dentists

The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Dentist

You may have heard about mobile doctors. They are a group of doctors who are trying to revive the movement of making house calls just like in the old times. Actually, it’s something that is greatly needed as our baby boomer generation gets older and increasingly immobile. However,  not much is said about mobile dentistry. I bring this up because this is something we ourselves are wondering about. Dad is due for a cleaning and so is our mom. Getting them to the dentist is a trek with the transfers into and out of the car and also the dentist seat. I’ve searched the internet for mobile dentists and unfortunately, have not found any in our area. I’m still looking!

This is a good area for dentists to look into however. Most mobile dentists that I know of typically drive in large trucks and park at schools. Unfortunately, despite my  efforts, I’ve only found a few including these and they are not close. Well one is closer, but not that close. If you happen to live near these two you can take advantage. Until then, I’ll be looking around San Diego for some while I take Dad to the nearest dentist to us.

One thing to keep in mind however. Just like mobile doctors, many of these dentists will be out-of-pocket and not covered by an insurance plan. So you will have to check with them.
